Team leader for Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure statistics

Rosa is the team leader for Macroeconomic imbalance procedure statistics at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. She has worked with sets of policy macro-economic indicators for more than ten years, including Principal European Economic Indicators. Her work focusses mainly on methodological research on advanced statistical and econometric techniques, such as reconstruction of long time series, estimation of monthly indicators of economic activity, development of synthetic indicators, definition of a statistical system for assessing and monitoring the euro area Business Cycle. Amongst her most recent publications in this fields, she has co-authored the Eurostat statistical working papers: Probabilistic coincident indicators of the classical and growth cycles, Towards a real-time system for the analysis of the euro area cyclical situation,  A system for a real-time monitoring of the euro area economy, and Advances in econometric tools to complement official statistics in the field of Principal European Economic Indicators.

Rosa is also active in the definition of harmonisation of practices at the European Statistical System level, in areas such as seasonal adjustment and revision policy and analysis, and she has co-authored the "ESS guidelines on seasonal adjustment", the "ESS guidelines on Revision policy".

Prior to joining the European Commission she worked as a researcher for the Max Planck Institut für Informatik of Saarbrücken (Germany) in the field of Computational Set Theory, and for the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Rome. She has also worked as IT project manager and analyst, as a software engineer and as a university lecturer. Rosa holds a PhD in Mathematics.
